The Sumatran Rhino Project

Programme Overview

The Saving Sumatra programme is a long-term conservation initiative focused on supporting the recovery of one of the world's most endangered mammals while protecting the globally significant rainforest ecosystems upon which it depends. Working in collaboration with government agencies, conservation organizations, scientific institutions, and local communities, the programme seeks to strengthen species recovery through science-led conservation, habitat protection, research, innovation, and long-term environmental stewardship.

By integrating scientific expertise with practical conservation action, the Foundation for Biodiversity aims to support Indonesia's national conservation priorities while contributing to the long-term resilience of Sumatra's extraordinary biodiversity for future generations.

Protecting the Sumatran rhinoceros means protecting one of the most biodiverse rainforest ecosystems on Earth.
